Thursday was the last day of school for Matthew. He moves into the big boy classroom on Monday. His new teacher will be Ms Andersen and Matthew will be required to wear a uniform. I went to a party at his daycare on Thursday and Andy took off work and stayed with him on Friday. The plumber came over to fix a faucet so they didn't get to do anything fun until later. They swam in the pool and went to the book store.
We went to the mall on Saturday to do a little shopping on tax free weekend. I caught a stomach bug later that night but started feeling better by Sunday.

End of School Year

Matthew had a pool party on Saturday for the end of the school year. All his friends came over and enjoyed getting in the pool and playing with the sidewalk chalk in the new carport. The weather actually cooled off a little to the upper 80's and rained earlier that day. Andy says "Go figure, it doesn't rain for months and the one day you plan a pool party, it rains". We had chicken nuggets, fruit, string cheese, and ice cream. Matthew had a blast.

We are just about to set a new record for reaching 40+ consecutive days above 100 degrees. It is starting to feel similar to the winters in Chicago in that we don't want to go outside. Luckily, we have a pool. We tore down the garage and added a carport in it's place. They finished on Friday and we were excited to use the grill again as well as get our privacy back.

We watched some movies over the weekend. Matthew loves Toy Story. We watched Toy Story 3 and his eyes were as big as saucers! He loved it. Audrey was a little fussy over the weekend with teeth coming in on the top as well as trying to poop more solid poop due to all the baby food she is eating. She just started eating baby food regularly for the past couple of weeks. She is 8 months old now. My how time flies!

When I picked up Audrey from daycare on Friday, she crawled to me! It was the first time that I had seen her crawl forwards as opposed to scooting backwards. She does the army crawl where she is low to the ground and slides on her stomach.

Comical Car Problems

The work week was relatively easy compared to our weekend. We had so many car problems that it became comical. On Saturday, I headed out to go to a baby shower. I was excited to see some girl friends and get out of the house for a couple of hours. I dropped Rusty off for a haircut and then stopped by a baby store to buy a gift before going to the shower. My car wouldn't start and luckily a nice couple had jumper cables and started it for me. The weather was so hot that it fried the battery. I tried to call Andy but he wasn't answering the phone. I stopped by the house and picked up Matthew so that we could spend some time together while Andy stayed at home with Audrey sleeping. We dropped off the car and Matthew got a haircut. The car got fixed and then we headed home. On Sunday, Andy noticed that he ran over a screw from our new garage construction. He took his truck in to the same firestone and got it fixed. There were little things that needed fixing around the house and it felt like we were busy just chasing our tail. I think we were both ready to go back to work where things are easier. LOL
Our road is under construction so there is dust everywhere. Andy's sprinkler head got busted from the construction. He was watering the plants and all the dirt turned into mud. Then Rusty tracks the mud in the house so Andy has to scrub the carpet. Matthew has been peeing in his bed lately so Andy spent some time cleaning the mattress with hydrogen peroxide among other cleaners. Matthew accidentally spilled orange juice in the kitchen making a sticky mess. And while Andy was getting ready for work yesterday, Audrey pooped and it got on Andys dress shirt. It was a weekend of comedy of errors!

After I wrote this post, Andy's air conditioner went out on his yukon. He sat in the hot car on his ride home from work on Tuesday. Matthew was in the car and they both arrived at home with red faces and ready to jump in the pool. Andy took his car into the shop and they fixed it. What next!
