January in Texas

The weather has been warm lately. We are enjoying this mild winter.

Audrey is walking everywhere, even trying to run. Matthew likes to play the "freeze" game where we stop what we are doing and wait for him to tell us to "go". He likes to put his ducky towel on after his bath and pretend he's super ducky. He runs around the house and Audrey loves to try to catch him. She squeals with excitement.

She loves going to her school and playing with her friends. Andy usually picks the kids up and Audrey gives him the biggest smile while walking over to him. He's so smitten over her.

Happy 40th Birthday Andy

On January 12th, Andy turned 40 years old. His work gave him a cake, took him out to lunch, and held a happy hour in his honor. However, after the happy hour, Andy had to come home to tend to the kids because I was out of town. My job sent me to Santiago, Chile that week. The kids missed me. Matthew said "we really, really missed you, mommy!" Audrey was also sad during that time. We were also weening her so it was probably a combination of both. But the good news is that she started drinking whole milk out of the bottles. Yeah!

I arrived on Friday morning and I stayed home with Audrey that day to spend some good quality time. I took Andy out to a nice dinner at a restaurant with views of Dallas from the 24th floor of the Anatole with our friends Taylor and Kristy. He enjoyed it. We both stayed home Monday since the kids school was closed and we enjoyed hanging out as a family. We went to the YMCA and swam in the indoor pool. The kids loved it.

Audrey made it in the newsletter

We came back to Dallas on Friday and we were so happy to get back into our normal routine in our own beds. Audrey did not sleep well over the holidays but she slept all night in her own bed. I took her to the doctor on Monday since we had the day off and it turns out that her ear infection did not go away. The doctor prescribed more antibiotics so hopefully that will get rid of it.

On Tuesday, everyone was ready to go to work/school. I dropped the kids off in the morning and Andy picked them up. Andy was preparing dinner and I was playing with Audrey on the floor. She started taking 4-5 steps without my help (the most I have seen yet) and she had a big smile on her face!! She stands up on her own and just starts walking towards the couch or a chair to hang on to. She still crawls to get around and keep up with big brother but she is mentally and physically able to walk on her own! She is 12 months old.
