Audrey's First Haircut

On Saturday, I took Audrey to get her first haircut.  She doesn't have much hair but it was getting shaggy and getting in her eyes in the front with a little duck tail in the back.  She was fussy because of some teeth that are cutting through.  Plus, she was not sure about the salon room since it was a new environment.  I held her during the cut and she did pretty well.  She was a little scared of the scissors but didn't cry.  She only cried when I put her in the chair so I could take a picture.  So this looks worse than what actually happened!

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day! I appreciate my Dad and everything that Andy does for the family. It's not easy being the head of the household, disciplinarian, and a fun loving guy all at the same time.

Matthew had a nice skit for Daddy on Friday afternoon where they wore mustaches and sombreros. Andy thought it was hilarious.

It was a relaxing weekend. We ate breakfast together and then Andy worked out and went shopping for some new clothes. He was grinning ear-to-ear afterwards. He needed some new ties, shirts, etc...

We went to church on Sat night and Andy went into the kid room with Matthew because he was shy- what a good daddy! The sermon was about fathers staying active in their kids lives and showing love. If there was a sermon to miss, this would be the one because Andy does these things already.

Audrey loves her daddy, too.  We have been getting in the pool regularly and she likes to swim with Daddy.  She likes to act like a big girl sometimes but then she likes her bottle, too.  She enjoys the bath time and playing "super ducky" with Daddy.  Audrey and Matthew will wear hooded towels as a duck and frog.  They will yell for Daddy on the top of the stairs.  Then Andy will come up and say "where's my wolf hound (Rusty)?  Let's go duck hunting" and the kids run and squeal.  They end up on the bed in a pillow fight.  That's our nightly routine!

June is here

While it is not officially summer, it sure feels like it.  Matthew's school year ended in terms of curriculum but he has the same teacher.  Several of his friends (boys) left the class due to their parents jobs moving to other areas.  But 3 friends joined his class:  Reese (Matthew has been in the same daycare together since they were 18 months old), Avery (Matthew knows from his music class), and Macie (Matthew's BFF).  Matthew is so happy to play with Macie that I don't think he misses his buddies that left.  We hope they will be together in the fall once Matthew moves up a level.  The weather has been hot and we get in the pool pretty regularly.

On Memorial day, Audrey started acting sick with a sinus cold.  It turned into a nasty cold and ear infection where she couldn't breathe out of her nose.  I stayed home from work with her 3 days and I felt so sorry for her because she was trying so hard to breathe.  She was fussy because of the lack of sleep.  I drove around town thinking that she would fall asleep in the car seat and breathe better since it kept her upright.  But she would wake up frustrated after a short time so that really didn't work as well as I thought.  We went to the mall to keep her distracted and ran some errands.  I was ready to get back to work.  It is so hard to care for little ones when they are feeling that miserable.  She started feeling back to her normal self over the weekend.

Last Friday, Matthew had a music recital and Andy went to see it.  Matthew was so excited to see Daddy there.  Andy took Matthew back to his office afterwards to finish a few things and Matthew loved seeing where Daddy works.  When Matthew is in a good mood, he gets real chatty.  It's funny to listen to him talk about everything.

Memorial Day 2012

Happy Memorial Day!  We had a relaxing weekend with Nanna, Papa, and Michael.  The weather was hot so we swam in the pool and stayed around the house mostly.  The guys played golf one day and the women went shopping for light fixtures one day.  We celebrated Mike's 40th birthday with some delicious cupcakes.  

There were a lot of animal sightings around our house.  Who needs to go to the zoo!  We walked to our favorite spot, Angelas, for breakfast one morning and found a dead possum along the way.  I think it was the first time I saw a possum up close like that.  He was huge with a long tail.  Later at night, Mike noticed ducks in our pool.  They flew in and started swimming around like they owned the place.  The kids loved seeing them.  One morning, Matthew saw a bunny in our front yard. Rusty ended up chasing him before we could get a picture.  

I want to thank all our military family members for their service.  We always see a lot of uniformed people at the airport and I make a point to tell them thanks for their service.  They always appreciate it.  Happy Memorial Day!
