We are so excited to report that on Friday June 20th, Audrey learned how to swim. We went to the sports club to enjoy the buffet and outdoor movie by the pool. The kids love it because they serve popcorn and smores. Audrey and I started swimming in the pool and she noticed how all the other kids were wearing their goggles and going underwater. She decided she wanted to wear her goggles, too. So I put them on and I was shocked when she wanted to go underwater. She would jump off a ledge to me and I would let her fall underwater a little and she wanted to do it over and over again. When Andy and Matthew showed up, she was so excited to tell Daddy that she was going underwater. Once he got into the pool, she would swim back and forth underwater from Mommy to Daddy - just like we used to do with Matthew when he was first learning. She was moving her arms and kicking her feet - really swimming! She was having a hard time just holding her breath, instead, she would blow out but once she ran out of air then she started to breathe in and get water in. Once we told her to hold her breath, then she stopped kicking and moving her arms. It was hard to remember to do all 3! But we are so glad that she is finally willing to go underwater and learn. Yeah!!!!
Matthew enjoyed his second week of sports camp at Jesuit H.S. He comes home so exhausted that he falls asleep in the car. He plays kick ball, octopus tag, obstacle course bounce house, and dodge ball. Audrey started up dance again on Tuesdays at her school and she is loving that. And Fridays are splash days so Audrey was happy to dress up in her swimsuit for that.
On Saturday, the kids took a long bike ride to the park in our neighborhood. The weather is hot here but not as hot as it usually is for June - only in the 90's. We enjoyed the pool in the afternoon and then took a long nap. We watched Frozen at a nearby church event in our neighborhood and then went out for ice cream. It was rainy on Sunday but we managed to get out of the house and go to the children's theater. The kids loved it! Late Sunday, we started Vacation Bible School (VBS) and the kids really enjoyed it.
